Individualized Family Tuition Program

The Tatnall School is committed to providing students of talent and promise with pathways to an exceptional experience. Families of all backgrounds are invited to explore Tatnall, confident that the school has the resources and commitment to make its program accessible to families from a wide range of backgrounds. The school charges a range of tuition based on a family's circumstances. We call this our Individualized Family Tuition Program.

Every family is expected to contribute to the cost of tuition and fees, thereby supporting the community to the extent family circumstances permit. Among our families are those who can afford tuition at the top of the index and whose philanthropic generosity is vital to annual operating expenses. There are also families who manage to pay tuition at the highest level only by making a substantial sacrifice, those who are able to afford only minimal tuition, and those across the spectrum in between.

Applications for admission and applications for Individualized Family Tuition are considered separately, but they are meant to be completed at the same time. The priority deadline for both applications is December 1. Any new applications submitted after the first round of decisions are considered on a rolling basis, as room in the class and remaining Individualized Family Tuition funds allow. The Individualized Family Tuition application is one application that includes all funding possibilities from the School.

To help us objectively assess what a family is able to contribute to education expenses, The Tatnall School partners with Clarity, a trusted third party, to analyze a family's financial profile. Tatnall's Individualized Family Tuition is provided without regard to gender, race, religion, or ethnicity.

Paying for an independent school education can be daunting, but have no fear: we're here to help. To get a clear picture of the level of tuition your family would likely pay if your student attended, please complete the Individualized Family Tuition Inquiry by clicking here

Please note that there is a limit to the number of awards at each level of need. Though your family may qualify for a certain level of aid, funding is dependent upon availability.

Individualized Family Tuition Application

The Tatnall School is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family's level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application, which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete and is mobile-friendly.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account.

Tatnall's Individualized Family Tuition is based on demonstrated financial need without regard to gender, race, religion, or ethnicity.

Prospective Families

Prospective families should complete an application through Clarity during the admission process in order to be considered for the Individualized Family Tuition Program. Our priority deadline is December 1 of each year. The majority of enrollment and tuition decisions are made in January and February; however, we do consider financial and admission applications on a rolling basis after that.

Current Families

Returning families should complete an application through Clarity by January 5 each academic year.

Merit Awards

The Tatnall School is dedicated to having the most talented, dynamic, and diverse students, and we offer generous merit awards. These competitive grants are based on past academic performance and potential to excel at Tatnall, not financial need.

Merit awards provide financial grants to some of Tatnall's most talented students. These grants are awarded automatically to select qualified recipients, and they will be notified at the same time as their admission decision. Students cannot appeal their merit award decisions, and Tatnall does not match award offers from other institutions.

Eligibility for New FamiliesEligibility for Current Families
To be considered for a merit award, students applying to grades 9-10 must submit ISEE/ SSAT or ERB scores by the December 1 early action deadline. Additional application requirements for these merit awards can be found below.
