Welcome to Tatnall's Middle School, where we help our students build confidence and character! Students in grades 6-8 engage with a curriculum that balances challenge with support and innovation with structure, to meet students' rapidly evolving personal and academic talents. Through our dynamic teachers, interdisciplinary learning experiences, and various co-curricular activities, the Middle School at Tatnall builds confidence, helps students make connections, and cultivates a vibrant community of learners!

Middle School Admissions Process

The Tatnall School considers applications for admission on a rolling basis. Beginning in November 2019, once a family completes the application process, the Committee will review all materials, including Financial Aid applications, and communicate the admission and financial aid decision. The decision package will include information regarding the time frame for family response to secure students' enrollment.

In addition, please keep in mind that the majority of admission decisions occur in January and February. It is recommended that all admission application materials and Financial Aid applications for prospective students be completed by February 1, 2020; however, we continue to work on rolling admissions basis after this date.

  • Step 2: Schedule a "Hornet For A Day" Visit

Our Hornet for a Day shadow program is currently suspended until classes resume on campus.

Parents will need to schedule a "Hornet For A Day" visit for their student. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to spend a full academic day with us. They will have an opportunity to meet current students, learn from our faculty and have a peek into a day in the life of a Hornet!

Tatnall welcomes student visitors beginning October 1st. Scheduling for admissions visits begins on September 1st. Please find below a list of available dates to visit. Please select a first and second choice date and then complete the below "Hornet For a Day" inquiry form. The Office of Enrollment will follow up within two business days to confirm your child's visit.

*If your child is a 6th grade candidate for the 2020-2021 school year, they will spend their day with their 5th grade peers in the Lower School.

  • Step 4: Student Testing

Testing is currently suspended by both ISEE and SSAT due to COVID-19, thus at this time, we are waiving this testing requirement.

Students applying for grades 6-12 are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) OR the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).
*Candidates who currently attend an independent school, where ERB test scores are available, they may submit those scores in lieu of sitting for the ISEE or SSAT.

For more information and to register, please visit either ISEE or SSAT.
