Hornet's Nest School Store

Located in the Beekley Gym Lobby, the Hornet’s Nest opens the day before the first day of classes and is open every school day from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A satellite store, located in the Lower School, is open on Tuesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The store is run by parent volunteers.  Please call the Bookstore Manager if you would like to help.

At the beginning of the school year, parents establish drawing accounts for the purchase of school supplies from the store. Standard accounts for Lower School students are $25 and $40 for Middle and Upper Schoolers. Accounts may be supplemented as needed. Other Tatnall items (clothing, spirit items) may be purchased with cash or check. Stores are closed during vacations.

Purchasing Textbooks

The Tatnall Upper School has contracted a third-party bookstore, MBS Direct to supply books. Each student will receive emails from MBS about purchasing and returning books.

The first email contains instructions on how to purchase books for the year. When it is time to sell books back to MBS at the end of the year, another email will be sent to each students explaining the process. To help facilitate this process, MBS issues each student a unique MBS Student Id, using this Id number you can shop by schedule.

If you have questions please reach out to Katrina Clayton at 302-892-4291 or email katrinaclayton@tatnall.org.

Students may consign books at the end of the school year. These books will be available for purchase the following fall. Used books will be sold at approximately 60 percent of the original purchased price. Student’s accounts will be credited for books sold at a rate of one-half of the original new book price. Credits will appear along with new book charges on the October statement.

Consigned books may have underlining of the text, but books nearest their original condition will have the best chance for resale. Bookstore staff will review the condition of consigned books.
