Early Childhood learns that Firefighters are Real Life Heroes
The month of October is Fire Prevention Month. As a part of our curriculum, we teach children the importance of knowing their home address, where the safe spot is located at their home and the importance of calling 911. We culminate this by having firefighters from the Cranston Heights Fire Department visit with us. We get to see the protective clothing they wear, the tools they use and do a walkthrough of a fire truck. We understand the importance that we "stay low and go" if a fire alarm goes off. We learn that we "stop, drop, roll and cover our face" if our clothes are on fire. We also learn the importance of calling 911 in an emergency. We thank the Cranston Heights Fire Department for making us feel comfortable and to understand that firefighters keep us safe.
