Last Friday afternoon the Tatnall Golf team traveled down Route 1 to take on Middletown High School at Odessa National, the site of this year's state tournament. On what can be a tricky course because of potential penalty strokes and funky yardages hitting off the tee, Tatnall battled to score their lowest total of the season. Strong performances were put in by Jack Tigani '18 and Edward Saad '18, as well as eighth grader Anthony Ciconte '22. All three Tatnall golfers shared medalist honors coming in with a strong score of 40. Ciconte and Tigani both battled back from early trouble to get it back to 4-over par for the nine holes. Galen Kelly '19 rounded out the scoring for the Hornets with a 43. Nic Mowll '20 and Henry duPont '19 came each came in with a 52 for Tatnall's last two scores that did not count towards the team total. The win improved the Hornets overall record to 6-3 on the season.
Tatnall 6.5, Newark Charter 2.5 - Tuesday, May 1st On a beautiful afternoon for golf, the Tatnall golf team welcomed Newark Charter just over the reservoir to Fieldstone Country Club for a match play event. The Hornets continued their winning ways as they were able to secure the victory, 6.5 - 2.5. Jack Tigani '18 came in with medalist honors again with the low round for the day at 38, including two birdies. He won his match comfortably 4 and 3. Edward Saad '18 also won convincingly, 3 and 2. In the number three spot, Galen Kelly '20 secured a win with a score of 4 and 3, and Nic Mowll '20 halved his match. Henry duPont '19 was unable to win his individual match and lost 3 and 2. Conner Malley '18, playing in his first career match, sank a testy 4-foot putt on the ninth hole to win his first career match 1 up.
