Early Childhood Center Celebrates Abilities Awareness Week
Tatnall’s Early Learning Center recently marked Abilities Awareness Week in partnership with the Delaware chapter of Easter Seals. Throughout the week the children participated in several activities geared to helping them understand that everyone has different abilities and they need to accept others who may do things differently.
The week began with a representative from Easter Seals visiting each classroom and sharing a variety of tools that help children succeed depending on their disability. Later in the week Karen Rose, a past Tatnall parent and volunteer with the Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Program, brought one of her trainees to the center. The children learned about the process of training a service dog and had the opportunity to pet the animal.
Finally, the children participated in a "Hop-N-ing” gym class. They hopped for two minutes earning donations for each hop. All the donations benefited Easter Seals.
