Yale University Invitational, Friday, January 19
Girls
Always a season highlight, the Yale trip is not only an excellent opportunity to race some of the best athletes on the east coast but a chance to experience one of the finest track & field meets in the country. This two day meet began with relay competition on Friday on the famed Coxe Cage track. Tatnall's girls 4x200 relay, Kayla Woods ’18, Lexxie Mathis ’18, Vanessa Howard ’21, Kimmi Woods ’20, ran the fastest time in the state so far this season and the second fastest time in Tatnall history. Our girls distance medley relay placed fourth in the championship section of the event. The relay team of Olivia Hardin ’19, Kayla Woods ’18, Lauren Anshen ’19, and Keelin Hays ’19 ran 12:24.18! The relay team of Lexxie Mathis ’18, Kimmi Woods ’20, Elena Bocchetti ’22 and Ellen Zammarchi ’18 teamed up for our team's fastest 4x400 relay time of the season (4:14.03).    
 
Boys
Friday night relays showcased our best. Our boys distance medley relay raced in the championship section and ran our second fastest time in our school's history. The team of Joey Cintavey ’19, Max Hardin ’18, Napoleon Hernandez ’20 and Brendan Balthis ’19 placed sixth overall in a time of 10:32.67! The 4x800 relay team, Larry Mathis ’19, Nick Garrett ’19, Sasha Latina ’19, Luke Kaucic ’19, posted our season best time of 8:47.03, while our 4x400 relay team closed out the night with an impressive 3:42.67. The team of Lorenzo Bocchetti ’18, Larry Mathis ’19, Sasha Latina ’19, and Nick Garrett ’19 ran our best time of the season.
 
Yale University Invitational, Saturday, January 20
Girls
Several state qualifiers were reached by Tatnall athletes on Saturday. Grace McKelvey ’20 qualified for the state meet with a 3000 meter time of 11:22.90. Olivia Hardin ’19 also qualified in this event with a time of 11:17.59. Kayla Woods ’18 ran a strong 400 meters in 59.47 and sister Kimmi Woods ’20 posted her season best time of 61.91 seconds. Vanessa Howard ’21 ran a lifetime best in the 55 meters in 7.74 seconds while Peyton Hays ’20 raced her way to an impressive 7.77 seconds in the same event. Elena Bocchetti ’22 posted a time of 2:32.60 in the 800 meters while Keelin Hays ’19 ran 2:19.85. 
 
Boys
The boys took the track on Saturday and posted some state qualifiers as well. Nick Garrett ’19 and Joey Cintavey ’19 both ran 9:09 in the 3000 meter event. Sasha Latina ’19 (9:51.85), Luke Kaucic ’19 (10:04.39), and Andre Latina ’22 (10:13.27) all ran season best times in the 3000 meters. Napolean Hernandez ’20 raced in a congested heat of the 800 meters to post the fastest Delaware time of the season 1:57.43. Max Hardin ’18 and Larry Mathis ’19 won their heats and qualified for the state meet with times of 2:00.01 and 2:01.56 respectively. Nick Garrett ’19 raced the mile in 4:39.62.
 
Tower Hill,  Saturday, January 20
Select members of the team raced at the Tower Hill indoor track on January 20th. Ethan Yu ’20 ran a personal best in the 55 meters in 7.69. In addition, in the 400 meters, Ethan placed eighth in a field of over 20 runners and ran an impressive time of 66.7 seconds. Aine Halligan ’21 ran the 55 meters in 8.6 seconds. One of her fastest times of the season. Colin Sullivan ’19Brett Balthis ’21, Sam Ginn ’19, Mike Wolfe ’21 all raced well in the 1600 meters. Brett Balthis ’21 ran his lifetime best of 5:51.33. The only Tatnall runner to compete in the 3200 meters was Patrick Harris ’20. Patrick ran 12:50 in the 20 lap race - a strong effort on the short track.
