While the Early Childhood Science curriculum is based on the Tatnall Wildlife Habitat in our backyard, this past week, we explored our senses inside the Science Lab.
The Tatnall campus and Habitat are amazing for exploring and using our senses every time we step out the door. During Abilities Awareness Week, the children discovered just how important our senses are for everyday activities in and out of the classroom. During science class, for the sense of sight, the children used binoculars to watch the birds at the feeder. They listened to nature sounds, using their sense of hearing and for the sense of touch, found many nature items in the ‘feely box.’ For the sense of smell, the children had to guess what the scent was inside each container. For the fifth sense, we ended the unit making butter and popcorn for taste!
