The field hockey team ended a two-game losing streak with a hot 10-0 win over Newark High School on Friday, September 21st. After a lot of pressure in the attack circle, forward Alisia Lovejoy '20 opened up the scoring with a hard shot to the far post twelve minutes into the game. Captain and midfielder Erica Hagar '20 found the back of the cage five and a half minutes later with another direct shot on goal. Less than two minutes later, captain forward Serena Patel '19 also managed to get one in the bucket. The first half ended with the Hornet hockey players up 3-0. The second half they showed more fire in scoring with two more goals from Patel and two goals by midfielder Teryn Singer '22. Forward Ashley Marvel '21 scored one, as well as midfielder Katrina Cattermole '22 off a Lovejoy assist, and a thrilling buzzer beater by forward Sophia Mitchell '21. The attack controlled the game, giving the defense a well-deserved break in the action.
