North Shore Invitational – Friday, February 16
The Tatnall Winter Track team competed on Friday at the New York City Armory.
Sophomore Napoleon Hernandez raced his way to his finest indoor time of his life and eclipsed the Delaware State Record in the 800 meter event. His time of 1:55.26 surpasses the old state record of 1:55.88 set earlier this season. Senior captain Kayla Woods had an outstanding evening beginning with her school record in the 55 meter dash. Kayla ran a time of 7.32 seconds, breaking the nine year old Tatnall record! She came back later in the evening to win the long jump with a leap of 18 feet even. Finally, her second place finish in the 400 meters against some of the best competition on the east coast was the fastest time run by a school girl in the state of Delaware this year! Sophomore Kimmi Woods also ran her finest time this season in the 400 meters with a 60.88 seconds.
In the 200 meters, freshman Vanessa Howard ran an impressive 26.45 seconds. Sophomores Kimmi Woods and Peyton Hays ran 26.90 and 27.52 respectively.  Junior Joey Cintavey won his heat in the 800 meters with a lifetime personal best time of 2:02.14. Also in the 800 meters, Freshman Jack Flanagan and Sophomore Patrick Harris posted times of 2:26.51 and 2:39.28.
In the mile event, Joey Cintavey placed tenth in 4:31.82 while Jack Flanagan and Patrick Harris ran 5:16.96 and 5:53.50 respectively. While this was a small percentage of the team representing Tatnall, it was an amazing experience for everyone who raced.
