Dear Tatnall Community,

We hope this letter finds you having had some happy summer adventures, rested and ready to get back to school.

We are writing with an update on the Head of School search. As a reminder, Tim Burns will continue to serve as Head of School throughout the 2019-2020 school year, and we are very fortunate to have his able leadership at the helm. Since late last spring when the Tatnall Head of School search was publicized, our search consultants have been actively speaking with educational leaders throughout the country about the opportunity and have already secured the beginnings of a strong and interesting candidate pool. As we all adjust to the new school year, the search committee will continue its vetting of candidate materials in the coming weeks, and Independent Thinking will continue its work speaking with potential candidates.

We fully recognize that the community is eager for specifics about the who, the what, and the when, surrounding the search process. We share a similar eagerness, and we are excited by the strong and experienced educators who have expressed interest in serving as Tatnall’s next of Head of School. However, we hope you can appreciate the need to maintain confidentiality at this stage of the vetting process, given candidates’ leadership responsibilities at their current schools.

As we move forward, the committee will continue its work with the intention to elevate finalist candidates for a public introduction to the broader Tatnall community in the coming months. While we are confident that we will identify individuals who could potentially be a great match for the Tatnall community within this timeframe, the search committee is fully committed to doing this work right and well. We are prepared to adjust the timeline as necessary to secure the best possible candidates for Tatnall.

As we continue forward in our work, we know that Tatnall is made stronger by the bonds within our community. The committee fully recognizes that we are working on behalf of the entire community to identify strong candidates that will strengthen these bonds and lead the school into the future. We appreciate your support and your confidence in this committee and look forward to sharing more as the fall season gets underway.

Sincerely,
