Application Process

List of 5 items.

  • Step 1: Inquire

To begin the application process, please complete an online inquiry by clicking here.  Once your inquiry is processed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log into your parent page.  This will allow you to track your student's progress through our admissions process, schedule your student's admissions visit, and complete our online application.

If you are applying for more than one student, please complete one inquiry.  Once you receive your parent page log in, you will be able to add additional students.

  • Step 2: Admissions Visit

Parents will need to schedule an admissions visit for their student.  Tatnall welcomes student visitors beginning October 1st.  Scheduling for admissions visits begins on August 1.  Log into your parent page to schedule your student's visit or call the Admissions Office at (302) 998-2292 to schedule your visit.

PK3 candidates will attend a playgroup with other candidates in our Early Childhood division.

PK4 and Kindergarten candidates will spend a morning in our Early Childhood division.

Grade 1 through Grade 12 candidates will spend a full day on campus and have the opportunity to experience a typical school day.

An Admissions Officer will meet you on the morning of your student's admissions visit.  Tours of each division will be available at that time.  Private tours are also available by contacting the Admissions Office at admissions@tatnall.org or (302) 998-2292
  • Step 3: Submit your Application

Tatnall's application process requires a completed online application, current school records and teacher recommendations.  The online application, records release form and the ADVIS recommendation forms can be found on your parent page.

PK3, PK4, Kindergarten: school records and a recommendation are requested if your student is currently enrolled in a preschool program.
  • Step 4: Student Testing

PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten candidates will be observed during their admissions visit. In addition, a faculty member will administer a brief developmental screening.

Grade 1 through 5 candidates will complete a reading and math screening, administered by a faculty member, during their admissions visit.

Grade 6 through 12 candidates are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). For more information and to register please visit either www.iseetest.org or https://ssat.org/about-ssat/registration.
  • Step 5: Interview

For Grade 6 through Grade 12, we invite you and your student to interview with an Admissions Officer as part of the admissions visit day. Alternatively, you also have the option to schedule the interview for a separate date at your convenience via the Admissions Checklist on your candidate profile page.
The Tatnall School considers applications for admission on a rolling basis. Beginning in November 2019, once a family completes the application process, the Committee will review all materials, including Financial Aid applications, and communicate the admission and financial aid decision. The decision package will include information regarding the time frame for family response to secure students' enrollment.

In addition, it may be helpful to keep in mind that the majority of admission decisions will occur in January and February; therefore, it is recommended that all admission application materials and Financial Aid applications for prospective students be completed by February 1, 2020.
