Opening Exercises

A longstanding Tatnall tradition, Opening Exercises starts in the Preschool with the Good Morning song, followed by the Faculty Prayer and the Children’s Poem, the Pledge of Allegiance, birthday recognitions, and announcements, closing with the Goodbye song. This gathering time provides an opportunity for the faculty and students to develop a sense of community. Parents are also invited to join in Opening Exercises.

Star Values

Social and emotional development is critical to the future success and happiness of all children. The Star Values program was created to support the growth of our students into kind, caring individuals. Star Values, encompass nine different principles: friendship, thankfulness, giving, cooperation, love, honesty, patience, perseverance and pride.

Each Star Value is introduced during Opening Exercises throughout the year. That value becomes the focus of various activities in the Preschool.Teachers may choose relevant literature and ask the students to identify when the value was displayed in the story. Community service projects, such as the Tatnall Harvest, collecting can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and Kind to Kids give students the opportunity to put the star values in action.

The Preschool division has also adopted a child from Mexico for whom we have supported for  seven years now. The children all make house banks and collect money by performing good deeds at home. This money is then collected and sent to Mexico to support this child and his family who are less fortunate than us.
