Preschool
The Tatnall Preschool combines all the elements necessary to engage young children in education and positive growth. Our award-winning facility was designed
with this particular age group, ages three through kindergarten,
specifically in mind. Our experienced teachers cultivate a warm,
welcoming atmosphere that complements the spacious yet homey
environment. Inside the Myers Preschool Building,
children find learning centers and areas for imaginative play, quiet
time for reading books, group time, manipulative activities, and
cooperative play. Outside they can explore a play area designed by one
of the country's foremost landscape architects. In addition to
state-of-the-art equipment, the playground includes an amphitheater
and outdoor classroom, an archeological "dig" site, water play areas,
tricycle paths and a Schoolyard Habitat certified by the National
Wildlife Federation.
With great care and creativity,
Tatnall Preschool teachers guide their young pupils through early
explorations of mathematics, language and literacy, science, social
studies, art, music and developmental gym. The student-faculty ratio in
our Preschool is 9:1; which allows teachers and students to form close,
trusting relationships. Our head teachers also enjoy the support of
assistants, professional educational consultants, Upper School student
volunteers and, of course, Preschool parents. Parent volunteers play a
large role in the operation of our Preschool library and contribute
extensively to our program, both formally and informally. The Tatnall Preschool values
not only each child, but each family. By the end of Kindergarten,
Tatnall Preschoolers have grown into competent, confident young
individuals who love learning and look forward with anticipation to
first grade.
