Applying to Tatnall
Each prospective family follows these steps to complete the application process:
1. Parent Visit
Contact the Admissions Office to arrange an initial campus visit (For driving directions to Tatnall, click here). A visit may be arranged at any time throughout the year. During the visit, families will meet with an Admissions officer and tour the Division to which their child would be applying.
2. Application
Send a completed application and the $40 application fee to the Admissions Office. At the same time, give a signed Permission for Release of Information form and recommendation forms to your child's current school. Your current school will send the recommendations, transcript and standardized testing directly to Tatnall. You may contact the Admissions Office to request application forms by mail, or you may download forms by clicking here.
3. Student Visit
Call the Admissions Office to arrange for your child to visit Tatnall. The visiting day will vary depending on the age of the prospective student:
Applicants to the Three-and Four-Year-Old class, Prekindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade enjoy a morning at the Preschool. During the visits students are observed and meet with a staff member for a developmental screening that takes approximately 20 minutes. Instructions for drop-off and pick-up times will be provided when the appointment is made.
Applicants to Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 visit for a full school day (8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) in the Lower School. Each visitor is asked to complete a reading and math screening and meets briefly with the Head of Lower School.
Applicants to Grades 6, 7, and 8 spend a full day in our Middle School. Applicants to Grades 9, 10, and 11 spend a full day in our Upper School. Each visitor meets with a member of the admissions committee for a brief informal interview.
4. Admissions Testing
Preschool and Lower School students normally complete their Admissions screenings on the day they visit the School. Candidates for grades 6 through 11 who have not taken the Educational Records Bureau Test (ERB) as part of their current school's regular standardized testing will take the ERB either on one of the group testing days or by special appointment. The testing fee is $25. For information and test registration forms, contact the Admissions Office.
