As a school whose mission is
to prepare our students for college and beyond, Tatnall places an emphasis on international understanding that spans
cultural exchange programs, increased foreign language options, and
enhanced history studies designed to build knowledge and appreciation of other
nations and cultures.
In the past few years, Tatnall has participated in exchange programs with schools in Denmark and Italy. These opportunities allow foreign students to experience American education and culture during a visit in the fall. They are hosted by the families of the Tatnall students participating in the exchange. Over spring break, Tatnall students travel to the foreign country to live with their exchange families, attend school and tour cultural and historical sites.
In addition to the exchanges, Tatnall sponsors travel opportunities for students at other times during the year. For example, Tatnall's concert choir has performed at the St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice and at the Vatican, Middle School students have toured France and Spain, and this summer a group of Tatnall students traveled to China for a cultural tour.
Tatnall believes that success in the 21st century demands a global focus and increased opportunites for students to experience and understand foreign cultures.
